LINDA’S PRIORITIES
Continued Fiscal Responsibility
La Quinta is well-positioned financially compared to some other cities in our valley. This financial security is due to the careful planning that has taken place over the years. During my term on City Council, I have approved two balanced budgets for La Quinta. I will continue to support responsible and conservative fiscal policies to protect our tax dollars for future generations.
Ensuring Public Safety
Public safety is a definite priority.Protecting our families, neighborhoods, schools, and businesses safe requires a strong law enforcement team. I'm proud to be part of a City that has continued to strengthen its police force and fire departments, even during challenging economic times. This has been possible due to favorable planning and allocation of financial resources.
Enhancing Quality of Life
La Quinta's charm is an attractive element for residents and visitors alike. Keeping our parks, trails, walkways, dark sky ordinance and open space areas well-maintained will assist in preserving the charm that drew us all to this beautiful paradise we call The Gem of The Desert - La Quinta. The General Plan currently being updated for La Quinta includes emphasis on promoting renewable energy and sustainability. Environmental responsibility is efficient and it saves money for our City and our residents. Effective utilization of natural resources and promoting green, renewable energy will remain a priority for the future.
Thoughtful Economic Growth
Moving forward, managing smart growth in business is critical for La Quinta. Our charm and image is valuable, and thoughtful economic growth needs to be aligned with streamlined processes that enable businesses to be successful in our City and for our residents. Bigger isn't always better. The right choices for our City will provide the balance needed for success.
Planning for La Quinta's Future
Our future is a result of the work of yesterday,
today, and tomorrow. Protecting our natural surroundings, improving our infrastructure, providing opportunities for business and education,
and promoting a healthy community is what I represent for all of us - now and for the future. The cities of the Coachella Valley
are connected and decisions made by regional, county and state government impact La Quinta. Partnering with neighboring communities
and regional government will enable the decisions made outside our city to reflect La Quinta's best interests and values.A great deal
of work has been done to establish and improve our infrastructure. Our tax dollars will continue to be used to properly maintain and
improve our streets, bridges, sidewalks, water pipes, storm drains, and sewer lines as our City grows older. Maintenance and
attention to our infrastructure as we continue thoughtful growth will keep La Quinta beautiful.
